Singapore Changi Airport
Overview
Every year, Singapore Changi Airport gives awards to outstanding
service personalities and teams selected from associated
organizations and companies. In the past, the airport management
distributed blank award nomination forms (hard copies) to
officers in various organizations and companies in order to
gather candidates' information. Completed forms were submitted
to the airport management for rounds of evaluation. Points were
given for each round, and the candidates with the highest final
points became the winners. This approach had the following
problems:
- It took time and effort to distribute and collect
nomination forms from different organizations and companies.
- The airport management had to retype all the forms
submitted as some handwritings were difficult for the
evaluators to read.
- Some nomination forms submitted were uncompleted; and
some were with errors.
- Calculation of points were done manually after each
round of evaluation.
- Retrieval and sharing of candidates' information within
the airport management were limited as everything were in
paper form.
The Solution
We designed and developed a one stop solution for the client to
gather award candidates' information online and automate the
evaluation process. The system we built is an internet portal
that includes:
- Online nomination forms which are accessible from
anywhere, anytime.
- Candidates' data is validated in terms of value, format
and dependency before it is inserted into the database.
- Two levels of access: the airport organization/company
officers can login and nominate award candidates. They can
view, edit, print and export their own data. The
administrators from the airport management can login and
manipulate with all existing data in similar manners.
- The administrators can create accounts for officers with
ease. Passwords are automatically generated and emailed to
the account owners.
- Automatic retrieval of lost passwords through email was
implemented.
- Sorting functions help the administrators
locate certain data quickly and easily.
- Evaluation points are kept track for each round. Total
and average points are automatically calculated.
Disqualified candidates are automatically filtered from
round to round.
- Concurrent access to the system that makes information
retrieval and sharing convenient.
The system is hosted and maintained by us thus the client can
reduce the cost of ownership. |
